Welcome to MODEL Software Oil And Gas Monitor
Oil And Gas Monitor: Monitor Noise and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).
- Home - MODEL Software Home page.
- Main - Oil and Gas Monitor Home page (this page).
This web site is independent of the driller, producer and Broomfield County.
You are welcome to copy anything.
- Define - Used to define the location of an independent monitor.
Currently not functional.
- Monitor - Monitor Gas and Oil.
This shows the Methane and Sound levels in realtime - updated each minute.
The intent is to keep the driller and producer honest in their committment to low noise and VOCs.
- Map - Real-time map. (Currently Fake News!!)
Independent monitoring of methane and sound levels. Not yet implemented.
The concept is do your own monitoring and show the data on this map.
I can recommend some hardware and I'll supply the software.
- Sheridan Pad
Items common with all studies are: Using 42 well configuration.
This is not current but that is what is available.
Using the EPA AERMOD model.
Site data is hourly 2016 data.
Erie Airport surface (Wind speed, Direction, Temperature).
Stapleton Airport upper air from twice daily balloons.
Using an average of Urban and Desert shrubland for Albedo (surface radiation reflection),
and Bowen Ratio (surface heat to roughness).
Enter the Study number and Month or 0 for full year.
See Output for different Studies.
- Sheridan Pad Cartesian
Uses Sheidan Pad but Cartesian coordinates. 3000 meter square with 50 meter spacing.
The main purpose was to show the high concentrations during the winter and it clearly does with study 203.
What it definately shows is AERMET Surface weather affects the model.
All three studies (203, 303, and 403) use fracking emissions at 29 g/sec for a full year.
All three use the identical AERMOD model.
And all three use Stapleton Upper Air.
VOC Concentration in Study 303 is 20 times greater than 203, and Study 403 is 10 times greater than 203.
Study 203 Uses AERMET Erie Airport surface weather and Stapleton upper air for 2016. See Output: StudySheridanAreaDffCart.TXT
Study 303 Uses AERMET Fort Saint Vrain surface weather and Stapleton upper air for 2009. See Output: StudySheridanAreaDffCart_STD.TXT
Study 403 Uses AERMET Fort Saint Vrain Adjusted surface weather and Stapleton upper air for 2009. See Output: StudySheridanAreaDffCart_ADJ.TXT
AERMET data for Studies 303 and 403 were provided by CDPHE (Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment).
CDPHE provided me the same data they provided to the company SLR http://slrconsulting.com/na/ that modeled two
potential Oil and Gas Pads (Lowell and Sheridan) for Broomfield.
The data set consists of 8760 hours of surface and upper air meteorological parameters.
I believe Sheridan Pad Cartesian Study 403 could be used sucessfully to compare fracking with the report from SLR.
Emmett Malone of CDPHE said, "I believe this (FSV 2009) meteorological data set is the most representative of the meteorological data sets available for the locations provided.
The National Weather Service sites along the front range typically have too high a percentage of calms,
have limited hours of operation, and do not archive 1-minute data.
All these items make the data inappropriate to use in dispersion modeling.
It is believed that the Ft St Vrain data is the best meteorological data available for dispersion modeling at the provided sites."
- FourPads - This models Lowell Pad 29 wells, Sheridan Pad 26 wells, United and Huron pads each 42 wells.
with a 8 month break after Sheridan. The Drilling, Fracking, and Flowback are in Black and Production in Red.
With 72 months of data. I added a Marker at Prospect Ridge Academy with details and Totals which monitors
all four pads. The drill frack flowback Option: TTTTTTTTTT and production Option: TTTTTTTT are set true
for each of the products (contaminants). Click on a Circle or the Academy and see the list. To limit the list replace any T with an F.
You can change the Losses fraction. The default 0.0047... comes from a CSU Study. The Front Range should be below 0.02
or the driller needs to get a permit to exceed it from the Colorado Health Department. Elsewhere in Colorado 0.05 is allowed.

- FivePads - This is a work in progress.
This models Lowell Pad 29 wells, Sheridan Pad 19 wells, United pad 21 wells, and Huron pad 30 wells.
A fifth pad Coyote is in Weld County and has 40 wells. The total well count is the same as the 4 pad.

Broomfield Gas PowerPoint 5 pads
- Output - The EPA aermod output data text data files (Same number: Study1, ...., Study5) )
- Pipelines - A Study to calculate offset as a function of pressure and pipe size.
I recommend pipelines be studied before or in conjunction with drilling pad locations and well count.
- Summary - A summary of Broomfield Gas. But it does not draw any conclusions. You can see recommendations in the PowerPoint presentation.
- Freeform Query - for analysis of the tables and data.
This allows you to analyze or modify the data. (Use MySQL valid queries.)
- Tables - Underlying Tables Supporting the Oil and Gas Database.
